Successful LED design applications from the desks of Data Display’s design engineering staff!
Design challenge:
Pacific Gas & Electric power stations utilize pilot lights to indicate the operational status
of a myriad of plant functions. Historically, their indicator of choice has been General
Electric’s ET-16 series pilot light, which uses a “push-twist” incandescent lamp and
resistor. At one time, these devices were stocked by virtually every electrical
contractor. Today, it’s a much different story!
PG&E maintenance engineers, in trying to maintain their older facilities, exhausted their
traditional sources for these replacement assemblies and when they could go no further, they came to DDP.
DDP’s Solution:
Data Display designed a pilot light “kit”, to be used as a wholesale replacement for the
GE ET-16 assembly. In addition to our highquality 1835LSX lamp, offered with a three
year warranty, the kit includes the socket, lens and transformer all in one package.
Today, we call it our PL16 assembly and it is available as part number PL16-X48-CX or
PL16-X120-CX for 48- and 120-volt requirements.
Now, PG&E stocks this as their standard 16mm pilot light device and this part can end
up at gas and electric utility plants all over the state of California!
When your customers need a “kitted” solution, DDP can help! We can provide the light and the parts to make the light work. Send us your indication and illumination challenge and soon you’ll…
