Job Opportunities at DDP
Electrical Engineer
Job Duties
Design, build, and test electronic circuits, printed circuit boards (PCB ’s), and associated schematics to support R&D on devices incorporating light-emitting diodes (LED’s) and related electro-optical technologies. Applying knowledge of solid-state electronics, illumination, and electronic circuitry design rules, design LED’s, support structures, and control devices. Calculate feasibility of designs using circuit simulation software (e.g., SWCAD III). Use schematic capture software (e.g., Protel, Orcad) to design and simulate circuits and draw PCB layouts to conform with size, complexity, and projected production cost criteria. Employ semiconductor RF circuit design to design wireless applications. Based on analyses of intended LED applications, designate voltage and current requirements and sources, and use mixed-signal circuit design technologies to plan both analog and digital systems. Use C and Assembly languages to program firmware. Working from product functional specifications and customer requirements, fabricate prototypes of electronic and illumination devices and their components (including housings and control devices), populate printed circuit boards, and fabricate testing equipment. Apply testing programs to assess product performance using laboratory equipment such as function generators, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multi-meters. Design and build mechanical fixtures and electronic circuit prototypes with both discrete and surface mount components. Maintain drawings, schematics, and documentation of electronic hardware development, and consult with production engineers designing manufacturing processes. Remain on-call to make design alterations to conform with production requirements.
Requirements against which applicants might be evaluated for the job:
1. Bachelors degree in electrical or electronics engineering or a related field, plus a minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrical engineer, circuit design engineer, or in a related occupation. [A Masters degree in electrical or electronics engineering or a related field, plus zero experience will be considered acceptable, if the candidate has the training or experience enumerated below.]
2. Experience or training using schematic capture software for circuit design and simulation
3. Experience or training in mixed-signal circuit design for analog and digital systems
4. Experience or training in firmware programming using C, Assembly, VHDL, or a similar language
5. Experience or training in using function generators, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multi-meters for testing, debugging, and taking electrical readings of test fixtures
6. Experience or training designing and building mechanical fixtures and electronic circuit prototypes with discrete and surface mount components
7. Experience or training in semiconductor RF circuit design for wireless applications
8. Experience or training in maintaining documentation and drawings of electronic, hardware, and software development
